Microchipping
If you have ever been separated from a beloved pet, you know what a helpless feeling it is you can experience as a result. In the past, you could only search and put up signs in the neighborhood and hope for their safe return. Fortunately, there is now a permanent form of identification known as a microchip that greatly increases the opportunity you pet can be returned if they become lost.
At Airport Veterinary Hospital, we recommend microchipping all pets in the event they become separated from you. A microchip the size of a grain of rice is inserted in between the shoulder blades of the dog or cat, just beneath the skin. Each microchip contains a code that identifies the pet and you as the owner. If your pet is found and taken to most veterinarians or shelters, the microchip can identify your pet, and greatly increase the odds of being returned to you.
Airport Veterinary Hospital is pleased to serve the Calera and Birmingham areas of Alabama, for your pet microchipping needs. If you have a new pet, or a dog or cat that has not been microchipped, call one of our caring professionals today!
